The Architect

One of the most prolific and respected golf architects at work today, Rees Jones has been a driving force in the creation of the PGA Village® The Bahamas. It was he who selected Cat Island as the most naturally perfect setting for a golf and beach club resort following an intensive search that lasted three years and covered countless miles. Always passionate about the projects he pursues, the 18-hole championship golf course of his design here represents a labor of love.

Rees Jones is widely recognized as the “Open Doctor” because of his well-known redesign of courses in preparation for major championships, with eight of the next 10 U.S. Opens to be contested on courses designed or renovated by his team. As close to golf royalty as one can be, he is the son of legendary course designer Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and has designed more than 100 courses, primarily in the United States.
