Cat island Golf and Beach Resort Forges Ahead

Apr 16, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Cat Island Golf and Beach Resort Forges Ahead Savannah, Georgia (April 15, 2010) – Cat Island Partners, LTD developers of Cat Island Golf and Beach Resort and The PGA Village® - The Bahamas, recently released an update on the project’s progress. The 1,906-acre oceanfront resort to be located on Cat Island in The Bahamas is scheduled to open May 2012.

Phase One of the Resort will be the world renowned PGA Village®, the first of its kind outside of the United States. The plans are to include a PGA Golf Club®, two 18-hole championship golf courses, the first of which has been designed by Rees Jones, The PGA Clubhouse, PGA historical center, PGA learning and performance center, PGA branded golf cottages and a full-service beach club.

“Since the official Ground Breaking back in April of 2009, we have begun the initial construction phase of the 18-hole golf course and Clubhouse, which is extremely good progress. This has been made possible by the hard work of the contract professionals and government officials involved with the project,” said Heath Shelton, President of EH Fortitude and Cat Island Partners. “We have worked closely with the Bahamian Government and our environmental consultants and thank them for their assistance in helping us take this project to the next level.”

Cat Island Golf and Beach Resort is also planned to include the development of single-family residential home sites, attached residences, village townhomes, an apartment complex and the development of a boutique-style, five-star hotel & spa with attached residences. The remainder of the village will consist of clothing and jewelry shops, local crafts, local artisans, car and bicycle rentals, an oceanfront bar, deep-sea fishing charters and a children’s day camp.

Tremendous headway has been made in all aspects of this development. With the land-clearing experience of Henry Brown and his team at Williams Earth Moving Enterprise and Mr. Russell at Marlin Enterprise, we have been preparing the site for permanent construction as planned. “We are happy with how accommodating Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham and his staff have been, specifically with the planning and development of the new road infrastructure. This extra effort will help the project move forward,” Shelton continued.
